Finding Rebecca: A Novel of Love and the Holocaust by Eoin Dempsey Summary & Analysis

Finding Rebecca: A Novel of Love and the Holocaust by Eoin Dempsey ★Summary & Analysis★
A gripping read, Finding Rebecca is guaranteed to tug at your heart strings. The central characters of Christopher and Rebecca engage the reader; we at once pity Rebecca and crave for the best outcome for her. We admire Christopher for his drive and motivation in finding her. The supporting characters of his father, Uncle Uli and Alexandra are all flawed, human and each of them immensely likeable and forgivable.

Finding Rebecca is well researched and the historical details add to the enjoyment of the novel, it is suggested that the reader have at least a basic understanding of what occurred in Germany and, indeed, the world under the Nazi Government. The sheer potential impossibility of the love between Rebecca, a Jewess, and Christopher, a Nazi accountant would be underestimated if one did not have a comprehension of what had occurred during war time.

It is a recommended read – particularly suitable for those who enjoy love stories set amidst insurmountable odds, or for those who enjoy historical fiction.
