The Diary of a Young Girl

Discovered in the attic in which she spent the last years of her life, Anne Frank's remarkable diary has since become a world classic—a powerful reminder of the horrors of war and an eloquent testament to the human spirit. In 1942, with Nazis occupying Holland, a thirteen-year-old Jewish girl and her family fled their home in Amsterdam and went into hiding. For the next two years, until their whereabouts were betrayed to the Gestapo, they and another family lived cloistered in the "Secret Annex" of an old office building. Cut off from the outside world, they faced hunger, boredom, the constant cruelties of living in confined quarters, and the ever-present threat of discovery and death. In her diary Anne Frank recorded vivid impressions of her experiences during this period. By turns thoughtful, moving, and amusing, her account offers a fascinating commentary on human courage and frailty and a compelling self-portrait of a sensitive and spirited young woman whose promise was tragically cut short.

Why I Am Not a Muslim

Those who practice the Muslim faith have resisted examinations of their religion. They are extremely guarded about their religion, and what they consider blasphemous acts by skeptical Muslims and non-Muslims alike has only served to pique the world's curiosity. This critical examination reveals an unflattering picture of the faith and its practitioners. Nevertheless, it is the truth, something that has either been deliberately concealed by modern scholars or buried in obscure journals accessible only to a select few.

Review

"My favorite book on Islam is the rationalist critique Why I Am Not a Muslim."
- Christopher Hitchens in The Atlantic Monthly

". . . a courageous and prophethic call to value and protect human rights, especially the rights of women."
- National Catholic Reporter

"The problem with a book such as this is that it will most likely never reach those most in need of it. How many libraries will stock it, or dare stock it if they knew its contents?"
-The New Humanist

". . . transcends The Satanic Verses in terms of sacrilege. Where Rushdie offered an elusive critique of Islam in an airy tale of magical realism, Ibn Warraq brings a scholarly sledgehammer to the task of demolishing Islam. Such an act, especially for an author of Muslim birth, is so incendiary that the author must write under a pseudonym; not to do so would be an act of suicide"
- The Weekly Standard

" . . . a completely compelling case for the conclusion that Islam is flatly incompatible with the establishment and maintenance of the equal individual rights and liberties of a liberal, democratic, secular state."
- Salisbury Review

"Ibn Warraq has done for Islam what Bertrand Russell did for Christianity, but at much greater personal risk. . . . His [fate] would be that of Salman Rushdie's were he to reveal his true name rather than the pseudonym he uses. This book is must reading for all who would understand the possibilities and the dangers of affirming multi-culturalism in today's world."
-The Human Quest

"At long last a writer has risen to the challenge posed by this religion of compulsion. He has put together in one book all the objectionable rules of Islam, and has made it into one of the best books about Islam that I have seen in many years. We must be extremely grateful to Ibn Warraq for his revealing book."
- Humanist in Canada

When I Was A Prostitute: Based on real life story

My name is Carmen. I am thirty three years old now. I was a prostitute for the most time of my life. I have a child named Sam. My life was a mess until now. I changed men, dealers even countries. I was disgusting little toy that men was playing around with. I was beaten, offended, arrested. I can’t count the men I had sex with. I know that my book will probably receive tons of negative comments and discussion about the whore that costs nothing. But, believe it or now “It is never too late to start a new chapter in your life”. I am happy now. Sometimes there are nights that are pushing me back in the hell that I was living in but now I have a strong man hand that holds me tight until I fall asleep again. I have a heart that is beating for me now and the best thing is that I can hear it now. I have my son’s eyes happiest than ever. And this kiss that he gave me every morning is melting my hearth, giving me the power never to come back in the past where I have nothing, I was nothing…

Madeleine: Our daughter's disappearance and the continuing search for her

'The decision to publish this book has been very difficult, and taken with heavy hearts ... My reason for writing it is simple: to give an account of the truth ... Writing this memoir has entailed recording some very personal, intimate and emotional aspects of our lives. Sharing these with strangers does not come easily to me, but if I hadn't done so I would not have felt the book gave as full a picture as it is possible for me to give. As with every action we have taken over the last five years, it ultimately boils down to whether what we are doing could help us to find Madeleine. When the answer to that question is yes, or even possibly, our family can cope with anything ... Nothing is more important to us than finding our little girl.'

About the Author

Kate McCann and Gerry McCann established Madeleine’s Fund: Leaving No Stone Unturned in 2007, to enable them to continue the search for their daughter, who was abducted in Portugal on May 3, 2007. As there is now no law-enforcement agency in the world actively looking for Madeleine, the fund enables a small team of very committed and experienced people to investigate Madeleine's disappearance. It also runs awareness campaigns in several countries, to ensure the public know that Madeleine is still missing, and to encourage them to remain vigilant. There is no evidence to suggest that Madeleine has been harmed and it is therefore vital to keep looking for her and those who took her. It is for this reason that all royalties earned from the sales of this book will be donated to Madeleine's Fund. The directors of the company are Michael Linnett, Edward Smethurst, Jon Corner, Kate and Gerry McCann, and Kate's uncle, Brian Kennedy. Once Madeleine has been found the fund will be used to assist searches for other missing children worldwide.

The Accidental Prime Minister: The Making and Unmaking of Manmohan Singh

Manmohan has three daughters, no son; so he treats Sanjaya as a son. Sonia Gandhi, Outlook

In 2004 Sanjaya Baru left a successful career as chief editor of the Financial Express to join Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as his media adviser in UPA 1. Singh offered him the job with the words, Sitting here, I know I will be isolated from the outside world. I want you to be my eyes and ears. Tell me what you think I should know, without fear or favour.
The Accidental Prime Minister: The Making and Unmaking of Manmohan Singh
The Accidental Prime Minister: The Making and Unmaking of Manmohan Singh
The Accidental Prime Minister is Baru s account of what it was like to manage public opinion for Singh while giving us a riveting look at Indian politics as it happened behind the scenes. As Singh's spin doctor and trusted aide for four years, Baru observed up close Singh's often troubled relations with his ministers, his cautious equation with Sonia Gandhi and how he handled the big crises from managing the Left to pushing through the nuclear deal. In this book he tells all and draws for the first time a revelatory picture of what it was like for Singh to work in a government that had two centres of power.

Insightful, acute and packed with political gossip, The Accidental Prime Minister is one of the great insider accounts of Indian political life and a superb portrait of the Manmohan Singh era.

Inside the Wardrobe of Anne Boleyn

In this book, we examine Anne Boleyn’s wardrobe in relation to the chronology of her lifetime because—luckily for us—we have records of Anne's clothes at every stage of her life. From her glittering debut in the Chateau Vert pageant to her final walk to the scaffold, everything is right there in the historical record. We may never know what Anne Boleyn truly looked like, but we can peek into her coffers and chests to admire her furs, velvets, satins and damasks, her headdresses, girdles and slippers—even her nightgowns—allowing us to effectively re-imagine the clothes worn by this fascinating queen, and to re-imagine the woman herself.

Sit comfortably in your armchair and take a cup of tea; you are about to experience the story of England's most controversial Queen consort from a very intimate perspective.

Mahatma Gandhi For Kids And Beginners

I have published a new ebook called, "Mahatma Gandhi For Kids And Beginners". Although the name suggests that the book is designed for kids but in fact it can be read by anyone. Most of the books on Mahatma Gandhi are too complicated and goes into intricate details of his philosophy which is perhaps too much for the average reader. This book covers basics of the man we know as Mahatma Gandhi. The book covers who he was, where did he come from, who were his parents, what methods he used to find injustices, about his studies, his life, why he fought along with the principles of ahimsa and satyagraha on which the entire freedom struggle of India is based. The book is now available on all Amazon stores.

Gandhi: Naked Ambition

The pre-eminent political and spiritual leader of India's independence movement, pioneer of non-violent resistance to tyranny through mass civil disobedience (satyagraha), honoured in India as 'father of nation', Mohandas K. Gandhi has inspired movements for civil rights and political freedom across the world. Jad Adams offers a concise and elegant account of Gandhi's life: from his birth and upbringing in a small princely state in Gujarat during the high noon of the British Raj, to his assassination at the hands of a Hindu extremist in 1948 only months after the birth of the independent India which he himself he had done so much to bring about. He delineates the principal events of a career that may truly be said to have changed the world: his training as a barrister in late Victorian London; his civil rights work in Boer War-era South Africa; his leadership of the Indian National Congress; his focus on obtaining self-government and control of all Indian government institutions, and the campaigns of non-cooperation and non-violence against British rule in India whereby he sought to achieve that aim (including the famous 'Salt March' of March/April 1930); his passionate opposition to partition in 1947 and his fasts-unto-death in a bid to end the bitter and bloody sectarian violence that attended it. Jad Adams's accessible and thoughtful biography not only traces the outline of an extraordinary life with exemplary clarity, but also examines why Mahatma Gandhi and his teachings are still profoundly relevant today. - Gandhi: Naked Ambition

I Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban

When the Taliban took control of the Swat Valley in Pakistan, one girl spoke out. Malala Yousafzai refused to be silenced and fought for her right to an education.

On Tuesday, October 9, 2012, when she was fifteen, she almost paid the ultimate price. She was shot in the head at point-blank range while riding the bus home from school, and few expected her to survive.
Instead, Malala's miraculous recovery has taken her on an extraordinary journey from a remote valley in northern Pakistan to the halls of the United Nations in New York. At sixteen, she has become a global symbol of peaceful protest and the youngest nominee ever for the Nobel Peace Prize.

I AM MALALA is the remarkable tale of a family uprooted by global terrorism, of the fight for girls' education, of a father who, himself a school owner, championed and encouraged his daughter to write and attend school, and of brave parents who have a fierce love for their daughter in a society that prizes sons.

I AM MALALA will make you believe in the power of one person's voice to inspire change in the world.
